Punctured bicycle, on a hillside desolate.
Hello and welcome.
Within these pages, you’ll find a collection of designs and slogans extracted from the lyrics of popular songs. Some you might not know, some you might not understand, but hopefully you will find something you like.
The project combines my two primary life interests – music and design. The thing for me about songs has always been what they actually mean and what the people involved are trying to say.
Sometimes lyrics mean a lot. Sometimes they mean very little. Sometimes they mean a specific thing to you and something completely different to somebody else (including the author). But therein lies the fun.
Design is effectively my career (as I can’t music very well), so I’ve approached everything you see here as I would under normal working circumstances. Turns out briefing yourself in your head is a lot easier than dealing with instructions from other people. Weird.
Not all songs are suitable and it often takes time and research to really land something that properly works. Other times it just jumps out at you immediately.
The only real rule I give myself is not to mention either the artist or the song outright in anything I do. Except for once, partially. kind of unavoidable, that one.
In amongst it all, you’ll find fictional pubs, dating apps, soft drink brands and, er, a rail service. For each design, I’ve included a handy lyrics toggle bar at the bottom of each page (thanks to the hard work of the geniuses at Genius) for you to double check.
So all of that, but on a t shirt…
Additionally – I have now started to branch into television. Mostly comedy for the moment. If you’re interested in that, have a look here.
The t shirts are Bella + Canvas 3001 unisex jersey short sleeves, and are printed and shipped by the good people at Printful. So don’t fret, you are in good hands.
All you really need to worry about is making sure you’re going to fit yourself into them. Don’t be getting that wrong – check yourself here.
Each t shirt is printed to order and takes 7-14 days to arrive at your door. Unfortunately there aren’t piles of already printed t shirts knocking about that can just be grabbed and sent straight away. So please do make sure you take this into account if you order anything, as I’d hate to be responsible for missing a birthday or a Christmas.
The dreaded ‘c’ word. Due to the global uncertainty, delivered goods may take a little longer than normal to arrive at your door. I’m keeping a close eye on the Printful Covid-19 page, so if in doubt, give that a once over.
As you would expect, it depends on where you live. It pays to buy in bulk, though…

Obviously I will honour any misprinted, damaged or defective goods and I can offer you a refund or a replacment, provided the item(s) get sent back. For anything that doesn’t turn up, claims must be submitted no later than 4 weeks after the estimated delivery date. Claims deemed an error on my part will obviously be covered at my expense.
Unfortunately, I can’t offer anything for buyer’s remorse or sizing mishaps, as the resell value is next to nothing (anything that does find its way back would go to charity). As mentioned before, the items are printed to order, so please make sure you are 100% certain before checking out.
If anything untoward happens, be sure to let me know as quickly as possible and I will do my best to solve the problem.
