Description

If you were alive in during the transition from the 1980s to the 1990s, you will have heard this song. I’VE GOT THE POWAH. Dur duh dur duh, duh, duh, duh. Very much of its time and very much annoying on the millionth time of listening.

There’s a fair bit to unpack on the design. The orange and black and font is from Black + Decker – purely on the base that they are power tools. Tenuous, thanks. The circle bit is the giant power-on button. From tenuous to obvious, thanks.

The words are all a bit weird. The song starts with some garbled Russian (see lyrics tab below), going on about ‘Transceptor Technology’ which doesn’t really make a lot of sense. I’m going out on a limb and guessing that it’s kind of a FGTH ‘Two Tribes’ style Cold War thing. But then obviously by 1990, that was largely over with the ongoing collapse of Communismn in Europe. So who knows?!

As it goes, ‘Transceptor Technologies’ (plural) *was* a legit company that dissolved in 1997. Whether they new anything about this is beyond me.
